Becoming a Teacher Member of the CCA
The qualification for initial entry-level membership requires a minimum of two years teaching experience. The teacher must coach with a Licentiate Member of the CCA to study the required material. After completing the Grade I examination, the candidate may apply for membership. Teacher examinations include demonstrated and verbal knowledge of the syllabus and required anatomy, history, and music comprehension. Teacher Candidate
- Shall be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Shall have completed 2 years of apprentice or independent ballet teaching.
- Shall present a biographical letter indicating past dance experience, schooling, performing, professional experience, and teaching background.
- Shall hold CCA Teachers’ Grade I Certificate before applying for Teacher Membership.
- Shall be expected to pursue responsible ballet teaching experience in the Cecchetti Method.
Graded examinations for teachers encompass syllabus, anatomy, music, and history for each level.
Teacher Member
- Shall hold CCA Teachers’ Grade I Certificate and be a member in good standing*.
- Shall have completed 2 years of responsible teaching of the Grades.
Associate Member (ACCA)
- Shall be a minimum of 20 years of age
- Shall hold Teacher Elementary (V) Examination.
- Shall have at least three years of responsible ballet teaching experience in the Cecchetti Method.
- ACCA members may use the term “Qualified” in advertising.
Licentiate Member (LCCA)
- Shall be a minimum of 22 years of age.
- Shall hold Teacher Intermediate (VI) Examination.
- Shall have at least six years of responsible ballet teaching experience in the Cecchetti Method.
- May sponsor Teacher Candidates through Intermediate.
- LCCA members may use the term “Certified” in advertising.
Fellow Member (FCCA)
- Shall be a minimum of 28 years of age.
- Shall hold Teacher Advanced (VII) Examination.
- Shall have at least eight years of responsible ballet teaching experience in the Cecchetti Method.
- May sponsor Teacher Candidates through Advanced.
- FCCA members may use the term “Fellow” in advertising.
Diploma Fellow Member (DFCCA)
- Shall be a minimum of 28 years of age.
- Shall hold the Teacher Final Diploma Examination.
- May sponsor Teacher Candidates through Diploma.
- DFCCA members may use the term “Diploma Fellow” in advertising.
*A member in good standing is current on all membership dues and in compliance with the continuing education policy.
