Congratulations to Genevieve Penn Nabity for being cast as Odette/Odile in The National Ballet of Canada’s upcoming production of Swan Lake. Genevieve studied Cecchetti with Laurie Papovich at Main Stage Center for the Arts and then went on to Canada’s National Ballet School. She joined the National Ballet of Canada in 2018 and became a second soloist in 2021. Genevieve was named as one of Dance magazines top 25 to watch in 2022. When asked about her Cecchetti training Genevieve said:

“Cecchetti gave me the foundation to build my classical repertoire on. It’s repetitive nature and clearly outlined goals gave me the proper tools to be disciplined in sticking to my technique, on which artistry rests, and to work towards my own professional goals. The work is challenging but fun and his themes appear in many classical ballets along with everyday ballet class. I am very grateful to have been trained in the Cecchetti method and for the many hours my teacher, Laurie Papovich, gave me and the abundance of wisdom she bestowed to me to solidify the teachings.”

The Cecchetti Council of America couldn’t be more proud of this talented dancer!
