TOMI POLLOCK, D.F.C.C.A.

The National Executive Board of Directors of the Cecchetti Council of America is proud to present a brief bio of TOMI POLLOCK:

Tomi’s background of training was geared for a professional career in dance. Her early dance education was with Doris Dieu who trained her in the Cecchetti Method.

She received a scholarship to study at the National Academy of Arts in Champaign, Illinois, a private boarding school for dancers and musicians. The summer following Tomi’s junior year, she received a scholarship to the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York City which continued throughout her senior year. She has been a recipient of the Sylvia Hamer Scholarship representing the CCA at the Cecchetti Summer School held in Chichester, England.

In 1981, she began performing professionally with Mid America Dance Company in St. Louis, Missouri and guest performing with the Gateway Ballet. Meanwhile, she continued her studies for both Cecchetti student and teacher exams. Interested in teaching, she opened The Dance Studio in Troy, Illinois where she developed dancers who have continued on to performing and teaching careers.

A frequent faculty member at the CCA International Summer School and Teacher’s Course,

Tomi has taught master classes at The Center of Creative Arts and Washington University in St. Louis as well as at dance workshops throughout the U.S.

Tomi holds the Maestro Cecchetti Diploma both as a student and as a teacher as well as with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Cecchetti Society, in London, England. She is a Permanent Examiner, Liaison Officer, and on the Syllabi Sub-Committee as well as Vice Chair of the Board of Examiners.

She lives in Troy, Illinois with her husband, Kevin.
