NANCY GILES WATKINS, F.C.C.A.

The National Executive Board of Directors of the Cecchetti Council of America is proud to present a brief bio of NANCY GILES WATKINS:
Nancy began her training with Marjorie Randazzo and continued at the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. She accepted a scholarship to and studied in the Professional Program at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

In 2006, Nancy was awarded the Margaret Marsh and Sylvia Hamer Memorial Scholarship, thereby representing the United States during the Cecchetti Society’s Summer Seminar in England.

The former owner and Artistic Director of La Danse in Canton Michigan, Nancy currently teaches at Ballet Chelsea in Chelsea, Michigan. As well, she teaches at ballet workshops throughout the U.S. and at the CCA International Summer School and Teachers’ Course.

Nancy holds the Advanced Professional Teachers certification, is on the National Executive Board of Directors, a Permanent Examiner, and a Liaison Officer. Currently, she is part of the committee planning the Specialized Teacher Training and Exam Program which will be available for the 2021 CCA International Teachers’ Course. Nancy was President of the CCA from 2008-2009 and also served as Assistant National Registrar, Eastern Michigan Registrar, and Summer School Coordinator at Hope College.

She lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with her husband, Kevin, and has two daughters and six grandchildren.
